Rene Design System

When first joining Gecko Robotics, products were being designed and developed rapidly without a shared framework for scalability. Without a system, consistency broke down across every product, design decisions were being made in isolation, and engineers had no reliable source of truth to build from.

I built Rene, Gecko's design system in Figma. I established foundational tokens for color palettes and typography that could scale across products while providing flexibility to the team.

Three things I focused on:

• Design tokens as the foundation
• Flexible platform components that engineers could implement directly
• Figma annotations so the handoff between designers and engineers was clear and consistent

Tracked all feedback and changes in the design system as the product evolved, bringing engineers in early, using a Figma plugin to keep designers and engineers aligned, and testing things in full designs before they were locked in.

A single source of truth that gave Gecko's growing teams the consistency to build faster and more confidently across every product. Future Gecko Robotics products could be implemented more efficiently because the system was already in place.
